Hi all!
I am planning a gap year hopefully beginning June 2021 (Corona dependent). I am looking at heading from London to South America, probably Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, and then over to Australia and New Zealand.
My rough plan is to fly into Lima in Peru, pick up a Macchu Picchu and Bolivia G adventures tour, and then head down overland into Chile and Argentina to do a bit of exploring myself before heading down under.
I would therefore, need a flight path of London-Lima open-jaw out of Buenos Aires- Australia (anywhere on East Coast) and into New Zealand- London again.
I'm looking at getting a round-the-world ticket as I am thinking it may be cheaper than booking all those flights individually. Has anyone done this? Not necessarily the same route but maybe similar? What companies did you book with? Is there anywhere to easily compare prices? Would you recommend this type of ticket for flexibility?
Thanks guys! Appreciate any suggestions :)
Hi! I haven't actually done a trip like this, but I had a South America trip booked for this summer and I booked the flights with STA. It was Manchester>Mexico City, Mexico City>Bogotá, Santa Marta>Lima then Rio>Manchester. I paid only around £100 extra I think for a Multiflex Pass, making all these flights changeable - I could choose to fly the same route on a different date with no extra charge unless there was a huge difference in fare. Obviously I haven't ended up being able to do the trip so can't comment on how it works in practice, but STA do specialise in backpacking trips including RTW ones - I remember when I was in there booking my trip I could hear an older man booking a RTW trip behind me. So I think they would be the ideal company for you to book with (as long as they make it out of the other side of the pandemic okay 😕)
